A mother's quick thinking prevented a tragedy during a roof fire

In Adapazarı district of Sakarya, a mother inside the house during a roof fire prevented a potential tragedy by turning off the natural gas valve before leaving with her three children.

The fire, which caused tiles and planks to break off from the roof and scatter onto the road, was extinguished by fire crews.

According to the information obtained, flames rose from the roof of a two-story building on 1475 Street in Yahyalar Neighborhood for an as yet undetermined reason. Upon noticing the smoke, residents alerted the authorities, and numerous fire, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the area. While residents attempted to extinguish the fire themselves before the arrival of the fire crews, the fire was brought under control and extinguished after approximately half an hour of work by the teams. During the extinguishing efforts, pieces of wood and tiles that broke off from the roof fell onto the road.

It was learned that the mother and her three children, who were in the house when the fire started, turned off the building's natural gas valve and went outside as soon as they noticed the flames. Fortunately, no one was injured or affected by smoke, but the house sustained damage. The thick layer of smoke covering the neighborhood due to the fire, which is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault, was also captured from the air by a drone.
