Free education support for visually impaired students in Mersin
Mersin Metropolitan Municipality's social support policies in the field of education continue to be rewarded with success stories. The free Education and Training Support Course Centers, operating under the Social Services Department, contribute to students' futures and provide support to family budgets. Operating in line with the principle of "equality of opportunity in education," frequently emphasized by Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer, these course centers offer a significant opportunity, especially for disadvantaged students. In this context, the determination and progress of Adile Nisa Bakır, a visually impaired 12th-grade student, is a concrete example of the support provided.

She overcame obstacles in education
Adile Nisa Bakır, who is visually impaired, applied to private tutoring centers for educational support when she entered her final year of high school, but was not accepted. Following the difficulties she faced, and inspired by a student who had previously benefited from the same course center and gained admission to university, Bakır applied to the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Course Center in Silifke. Accepted into the course, Bakır began receiving one-on-one tutoring support in all subjects she was not exempt from. During this process, the student, who receives support both academically and morally, continues her preparation for the university entrance exam.
"We provide personalized instruction to our students"
Course Center Manager Avni Yalçın stated that they provide all kinds of support for students to achieve their dreams, saying, "Adile Nisa is a very determined student. We provide her with support in geography, Turkish, literature, mathematics, history of the Turkish Revolution, and philosophy. In line with our President's principle of 'equality of opportunity in education,' we continue to stand by our students."
Mathematics Teacher Burçin Göke stated that the lessons are shaped according to the student's needs, saying, "We proceed one-on-one in mathematics. We provide verbal explanations in a way that our student can understand and prepare for the exam using ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center) questions. We expect a good result."
"Everything is available here"
Adile Nisa Bakır, expressing her satisfaction with the attention she received at the course center, said, "I discovered this place when I didn't know how to progress. I was very warmly welcomed. I am currently continuing my education here. The teachers are very attentive. Everything has been thought of in terms of resources, practice exams, and other opportunities."
Her family is also pleased
Adile Nisa's mother, Sevim Bakır, touched upon the difficulties they experienced during the process, saying, "If you have a child with special needs, it is very difficult to find support. But here, the teachers are working one-on-one with my daughter. If such an opportunity did not exist, we would have had a very hard time. My daughter is receiving education as if she were in a private course."
