POLICE OFFICERS WHO INTERVENED IN THE ARMED FIGHT WERE FIRED UPON

Two police officers responding to a report of an armed brawl in Çorlu district of Tekirdağ were martyred in the ensuing shootout, while the suspect was neutralized.

The incident occurred at a business center on Kumyol Street in the Reşadiye neighborhood of Çorlu district. According to reports, police teams were dispatched to the area after a report of an armed brawl from the second floor of the business center.

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi announced that police officers Erkan Tütüncüler and Emrah Koç, who were seriously injured in the incident, had been martyred.

Çiftçi's statement read: "Police officers Erkan Tütüncüler and Emrah Koç, serving in the Tekirdağ Çorlu District Police Department, were martyred when the suspect opened fire on them while they were responding to an armed brawl. May God have mercy on our martyrs; I offer my condolences to their grieving families, our heroic Police Organization, and our Nation. May our martyrs rest in peace."
