Fingerprints given to obtain a chip-enabled ID card solved a 19-year-old murder case

A horrific murder committed 19 years ago in Şişli, Istanbul, has been solved thanks to advancements in technology. In the 2007 case, where Yunis Doğan was burned alive and his secretary, Hacer Eginay, was stabbed 57 times, the perpetrators were finally caught years later thanks to a fingerprint.

FINGERPRINT SOLVES MURDER

The fingerprint of one of the suspects, provided to obtain a chipped ID card, matched old records in the police system, reopening the case. Three suspects were arrested and subsequently detained. The indictment requests aggravated life imprisonment for the defendants on charges of "murder with monstrous intent." This brutal murder, solved with the help of technology, has ensured justice, albeit after 19 years.
