Despite aerial and underwater searches, no trace of the boy has been found. The incident occurred on April 21st in the Küpçüler neighborhood of Erenler district in Sakarya. Ahmed İdris, a foreign national, was fishing with a relative on the banks of the Sakarya River when he tried to retrieve a fish caught on his line. He tied a rope around his waist and went into the water, but the strong current of the river broke the rope. The boy was swept away by the current and disappeared. Upon notification, numerous teams were dispatched to the area. They launched a large-scale search in the river. Despite the passage of days, no trace of the 10-year-old boy has been found. Search efforts continue on the 7th day. AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency), underwater police, and SAKE (Sakarya Search and Rescue Team) teams are continuing their extensive search in the river. |
