The forest fire was brought under control after 9 hours

A forest fire that broke out in the Beykoz district of Istanbul was brought under control after approximately 9 hours of intense intervention by firefighting teams.

The fire, which started around 3:50 PM in the Kılıçlı neighborhood of Beykoz, spread rapidly over a large area due to the wind. The limited access to the fire, located on the Beykoz-Şile border, hampered the teams' efforts.

REIGNITED DUE TO WIND
While the fire was initially brought under control around 6:30 PM, it reignited due to the wind.

BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL
Thanks to the intensive efforts of the Forestry Regional Directorate, fire department, and AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority) teams, the fire was brought under control again around 1:00 AM.

The fire was tackled with 3 helicopters, 51 vehicles, and 146 personnel, and approximately 14 hectares of reforestation area and scrubland were damaged.

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
The Istanbul Governor's Office issued a statement regarding the latest situation of the fire, saying, "The forest fire that broke out in the forested area in Kılıçlı Neighborhood of Beykoz District and was brought under control around 18:30, has flared up again due to the wind. The fire, which was intervened by the Forest Regional Directorate, Fire Department and AFAD teams, was brought under control again around 01:00, and cooling efforts are continuing in the area. 3 helicopters, 51 vehicles and 146 personnel intervened in the fire, and 14 hectares of afforestation area and scrubland were damaged in the fire."
