Argentine boxer Alan Chaves' spectacular knockout to retain his Latin title: "A star is born"

The Argentine boxer defeated Mexican Miguel Madueño in Las Vegas for the WBO lightweight division belt

Argentine boxer Alan "Veneno " Chaves solidified his international profile after scoring a third-round knockout against Mexican Miguel Madueño at the BleauLive Theater in the Fontainebleau Hotel and Arena in Las Vegas . With this victory, the Buenos Aires native retained his World Boxing Organization (WBO) Latino lightweight title and maintained his undefeated record of 22 fights, 19 of which were won by knockout.
The fight, held in one of the premier venues for American boxing and promoted by Matchroom Boxing, marked Chaves' international debut . He entered the bout with a perfect record and the expectation of establishing himself on the global circuit. The event attracted the attention of fans and experts alike, given the winning records of both fighters and the prestige of the title at stake.
From the opening bell, Alan Chaves took control of the ring. The Argentinian dominated in power and mobility during the first two rounds. As the fight progressed, Chaves controlled the action and neutralized Madueño's offensive attempts. Madueño had struggled to make the 135-pound (61.2-kilogram) weight limit beforehand.
The fight ended at 1:44 of the third round. At that moment, Chaves stood in the center of the ring and landed a left cross that sent Madueño to the canvas . The American referee began the count, but upon seeing that the Mexican was unconscious, he stopped the fight. The Buenos Aires native celebrated with his team, while the spectators praised the decisive nature of the finish.
At the end of the fight, Chaves himself explained the decisive maneuver: “It was a move we practiced a lot in the gym with the team ,” the boxer from San Miguel told reporters. He emphasized that the victory represents a key step in his international career and reinforces his confidence for future challenges in the lightweight division.
The event's promoter, Eddie Hearn , director of Matchroom Boxing, also shared his impression of the Argentine's performance. Through his social media, Hearn expressed: "A star is born! 22-0 (19 KOs) ," referring to Chaves' record and his impressive performance in the world's premier boxing market.
The 25-year-old Argentinian comes from a family with a strong boxing tradition, started by Rudecindo Chaves , a renowned sparring partner of legendary figures like Víctor Galíndez and Carlos Monzón . Alan himself has repeatedly acknowledged the influence of this legacy on his development and the high standards he sets for himself in the sport.

With the victory, Alan Chaves successfully defended his WBO Latino title and secured his first win under the Matchroom Boxing banner. This result positions him favorably for bigger challenges within the division , whose world title is currently held by American Abdullah Mason (20-0-0, 17 KOs). Chaves' performance in Las Vegas has generated excitement about his upcoming fights and his potential to challenge for a world title in the near future.
