The aim is to support the sector with discounts on water bills and the İZMAR Warehouse project to be implemented within Fuar İzmir (Izmir Fairgrounds). Mayor Tugay invited all stakeholders to take responsibility for the development of Izmir tourism. SUPPORT THAT WILL GIVE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR TO THE TOURISM SECTOR At the Tourism Council Meeting hosted by Mayor Tugay, various ideas and demands were discussed with the aim of developing tourism and finding solutions to the problems faced by the sector. Information was provided on the work carried out by the relevant units of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, and evaluations were made regarding international fairs and cultural routes. Presentations were also given on the supply of qualified personnel, one of the most important needs of the sector. A NEW BREATH OF FRESH AIR FOR FOOD SUPPLY WITH İZMAR WAREHOUSE Mayor Tugay stated that discounts will be applied to water bills to reduce the costs of tourism businesses. This step aims to contribute to İzmir's tourism by promoting water conservation while simultaneously reducing the expenses of hotels and restaurants. Furthermore, it was announced that the İZMAR model, which provides citizens with access to healthy and affordable food, will be adapted to the tourism sector. The İZMAR Warehouse, to be established in Hall D of Fuar İzmir in Gaziemir, is planned to open by mid-May. This warehouse will supply restaurants and hotels with food products such as vegetables, fruits, meat, and dairy products at affordable prices and on a continuous basis. Mayor Tugay emphasized that İzmir's tourism potential is not limited to sea, sand, and sun, but also holds great value in areas such as archaeology and gastronomy. Stating that the approximately 200 excavation sites in the city offer significant tourism potential, Tugay noted that Urla stands out in the field of gastronomy and that efforts are underway to strengthen this infrastructure. It is also anticipated that EXPO and the international organizations planned in the İzmir Gulf could bring a new tourism dynamic to the city. Tugay emphasized the importance of collaboration in the development of urban tourism, noting the need to increase the number of high-quality accommodation facilities and adding that efforts to improve the aesthetics of the city center are also ongoing. |
