The decision granting visa exemption to Australian citizens entering Turkey has been published in the Official Gazette.

Turkey has granted visa-free entry to Australian citizens.

The decision was published in today's issue of the Official Gazette.

The decision, signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, reads as follows:

"It has been decided, in accordance with Article 18 of the Law No. 6458 on Foreigners and International Protection, to grant visa exemption to Australian citizens holding ordinary passports for tourist visits and transit passages to Turkey, with a maximum stay of 90 days within every 180-day period, effective from April 17, 2026."

AUSTRALIA STILL REQUIRES VISAS FOR TURKEY
Turkish citizens holding diplomatic, service, special, and ordinary passports are subject to visa requirements when traveling to Australia.

It is not yet known whether the Canberra government will take a similar step to Türkiye.
