Governor's Office Issues Water Release Warning for Dam

The Şırnak Governorate issued a water release warning for the Ilısu Dam. The release will continue until April 30th.

The Şırnak Governorate announced that due to rising water levels in the Ilısu Dam as a result of rainfall, controlled water release will continue until April 30th.

The statement from the Governorate indicated that a large amount of water has flowed into the dam reservoirs due to heavy rainfall and snowmelt in the region.

In this context, it was stated that controlled water release operations have begun from the Ilısu Dam and that these operations will continue until April 30, and the following was noted in the statement:

"In order to prevent loss of life and property during the release operations, citizens living in settlements around riverbeds and stream banks should take the announcements into consideration, take necessary precautions in areas located in or near the riverbed (transportation routes, agricultural lands, businesses, vineyards, orchards, sheds, etc.), not enter the riverbed during the release period, and be careful and cautious against sudden increases in water level."
