Foot and Nail Care Clinic held at Grace Lutheran Church

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - This week, a free foot and nail clinic is helping hundreds of community members with common foot health issues.

UW-Eau Claire’s Continuing Education program is helping residents while providing vital experience for local nurses pursuing foot health certification.

At Grace Lutheran Church, the event is designed to help residents with diabetes or other illness-related foot concerns. They’re also looking to help those with mobility issues who may be struggling to care for their feet on their own.

Organizers say foot and nail health is often overlooked and that can lead to other issues down the line.
“When your foot health starts to decline, then it really affects the rest of your body, right. It affects how your shoes fit, it affects how you’re getting around, it affects if you’re able to get around,” said Amy Cummings, Outreach Program Manager, UW-Eau Claire.

This week’s appointments are all filled up. However, there is a fall clinic from October 12-16 that people can start signing up for on September 28 by calling 715-836-3636.

Organizers say care like this is a huge need in the community and to expect the clinic to return for more appointments this fall.
