MEETING WITH MINERS AT THE MINISTRY OF INTERIOR
A meeting was held at the Ministry of Interior between the worker and employer representatives to evaluate the miners' protests in Ankara.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Interior Ali Çelik and attended by Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security Faruk Özçelik, Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Abdullah Tancan, Director General of Security Mahmut Demirtaş, Ankara Police Chief Engin Dinç, Ankara Deputy Governor Gürsoy Osman Bilgin, Head of Security Department of the General Directorate of Security Emrullah Gölcük, Independent Mining Workers' Union President Gökay Çakır, union official Başaran Aksu, miners Sinan Koçak and Özcan Gültekin, and Sabahattin Yıldız, owner of Doruk Mining Company.
AGREEMENT REACHED
During the meeting, which lasted approximately 1.5 hours, discussions were held on reaching an agreement to end the strike and actions. The Ministry of Interior announced that the meeting concluded with an agreement between the parties and that the workers had ended their action in agreement with the employer.
Meanwhile, it was learned that, thanks to the efforts of Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi, 96 million 340 thousand Turkish Lira was deposited into the workers' accounts by the employer.
"WE HAVE ENDED OUR PROTEST"
Speaking in front of the Ministry of Interior, Gökay Çakır, the General President of the Independent Mining Workers' Union, stated that the meeting was positive and noted the following: "Most of our colleagues have received their salaries. They asked us for 15 days. The Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ankara Police Chief all accepted this guarantee. Therefore, we have ended our protest as of this moment.
All rights of those who want to be dismissed and are entitled to severance pay will be paid within 15 days; the company has promised this. However, those who want to continue working will not be able to benefit from these rights; they will only receive their salaries. But if they say, 'I will accept my dismissal,' after reaching a mutual agreement with the employer, then everyone's severance pay will be paid within 15 days. We will not leave any of our workers disadvantaged."
"THEY GAVE FLOWERS TO THE POLICE"
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi also made a statement after the crisis was resolved. The farmer stated: "The fact that the miners' protest, which has been ongoing for days in Ankara, ended with common sense and civility, presents a meaningful picture for all of us.
The fact that our workers ended their protest by giving flowers to the police is one of the most beautiful manifestations of the respect, dignity, and unity inherent in our nation. With the understanding of 'Give the worker their due before their sweat dries,' protecting the rights of labor, strengthening social justice, and guaranteeing a dignified life for every citizen is our shared responsibility. I thank all parties who contributed to this process, where common sense prevailed."
