Teams from the Kocasinan Municipality Parks and Gardens Directorate in Kayseri have prepared agricultural practice areas in two schools selected as pilot projects to foster sustainable nature awareness among students. Students will plant trees in these areas and will later carry out planting and cultivation work.
According to a statement from the Kocasinan Municipality, agricultural areas were prepared by the Parks and Gardens Directorate teams at the Şehit Suat Sarı Kindergarten and Erkilet Middle School in the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi neighborhood to connect children with the soil.
Students will plant trees in these areas and will later carry out planting and cultivation work.
In the statement, Mayor Ahmet Çolakbayrakdar stated that through this project, children will learn the abundance of production, the beauty of sharing, and the importance of respect for nature through hands-on experience.
Elife İşler, the principal of Şehit Suat Sarı Kindergarten, thanked Çolakbayrakdar for his support and stated:
"We are very happy. Planting trees with our students, leaving a footprint for the future, was very valuable to us. We will be doing planting and cultivation work with our students in the future. We aim to grow aromatic plants and various vegetables. We want them to get to know these things, to pick vegetables or different plants from the branch, to try and eat them, and to see how this is taught.
A tree is best shaped when it is young. We try to instill environmental awareness in our students from a young age. The seeds we plant at a young age sprout and grow together with our children. We aim to raise individuals who respect nature, people, and the environment."
